Internal medicine involves diagnosing and treating illnesses which do not require surgical intervention. Internal medicine specialists provide diagnosis, non-surgical treatment and prevention of diseases in internal organs. The internal medicine specialist treats the following illnesses: respiratory disorders, heart and vascular system, digestive system, rheumatology, and more. The specialist determines the client’s state of health based on the results of diagnostic tests. The client may then be referred for further consultation with one of the specialists in the following fields: cardiology, endocrinology, EEG, gastroenterology, or for other specialized areas of treatment such as neurology, and more.
